Explain the concept of rank regarding sitar players?
"Shahid Parvez is a middle-ranking sitar player. The son of Aziz Khan and the grandson of Wahid Khan, he was performing in public before he was ten years old. ~ Ken Hunt, Rovi"
This very 2-liner can be found repeated on many websites. My question is: does "middle-ranking sitar player" refer to anything besides the author's opinion? In my experience, rank is one of those characteristics that is often statistical since it involves judging each ranked members relative to one another. However, it impresses strangely to me to regard musicians so, as their playing leaves each listener has a drastically different impression. Unfortunately though, I know quite little about Indian culture. Is he in fact middle-rank, and why or why not?
It is solely the author's opinion.
The author is ill though

Sesame Street Presents Follow that Bird [VHS] $4.65 Follow That Bird is as much a journey through time as it is a romp past the Sesame Street stop sign. Curiously, the cast members--live ones like Gordon and Maria, not just the Muppets--have the timeless look to them. Only the cameos (by Sandra Bernhard, John Candy, and others) plus a few ill-conceived hairdos clue us in that this feature film was made in 1985. Otherwise, it's all sophisticated Ses... |

Amazing Grace $5.98 In this inspirational costume drama, Michael Apted (49 Up) recounts a period in British history sure to be unfamiliar to most Americans. In fact, his eye-opening biography of 18th century abolitionist William Wilberforce (Ioan Gruffudd) is likely to come as a revelation to many Britons, as well. After all, despite the presence of his wife, Barbara (Romola Garai), this isn't a particularly "sexy" s... |
