Who will beat what records?
BQ: which will fall 1st Rose's career hits or DiMaggio's hit streak?
Three possibilities. The most likely, I think, would be Suzuki's 262 hits, and I think he is the most likely to break it. It has been a long time since the majors have seen a machine quite like him.
Next up would be the saves record. KRod only bested the previous record by 5, and while it is tough to get 63 save opportunities, I think the closer role is well-defined enough that someone else will do it.
Third, the record that is nearest and dearest to me, is Ryan's strikeout record. As unlikely as that may seem he only bested the previous record by one, and Randy Johnson came within 19 in 1999 and 11 in 2001. Pitch counts are the strikeout pitchers greatest enemy in this respect, but the Big Unit has played his entire career in the pitch count era, so it could happen.
BQ: DiMaggio's streak. It would take somebody like Suzuki playing his whole career in MLB to approach Rose's record.
