Is Tom Clancy's dead or alive action-packed and do you have to have read other Tom Clancy books to follow it?
I'm looking for an action-packed audio book with a good plot as well. I have read several audio books lately that I thought were going to be action-packed but they were a letdown.
I have never read any other Tom Clancy books. I know this one has a little bit of the back story but, I want to be sure I can follow the story reasonably well without having read the other Tom Clancy books.

Yes, Read other tom clancy novels in order before reading this. It is difficult to know who the characters are and how they got there unless you read the other novels. in this order

the years are out of order because tom clancy wrote other novels to fill in the gaps in the years in the story line. everything makes sense if you read in this order.
